CCEF Executive Director Visits 27 Prisons in Ohio!
October 28, 2015 8:39 pm
Anthony visited 27 Ohio Correctional Institution in October 2015. The mission of the Creative Corrections Education Foundation (CCEF) is to provide educational opportunities to young adults whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have been incarcerated or are on parole. Anthony provided presentations to inmates in attendance which allows inmates to help their children financially by donating to CCEF so they can obtain scholarships to attend college thus breaking the cycle and reducing second generation crime.
Anthony spoke to various inmate groups at each institution and explained how supporting CCEF can make a difference in a student’s life by providing scholarships to assist them financially. Awarding students with scholarships will assist in creating a society with lower crime rates and making communities safer.
All staff and inmates in attendance at the presentations were very excited about what CCEF is doing to reduce the incarceration rate in America to include giving young adults of the incarcerated a better chance to divert away from possible incarceration through education.
Inmates vowed to donate to the foundation each month and three institutions held fundraisers prior to Anthony arriving.
London Correctional Prison raised a total of $11,464.94
Ohio Reformatory Prison raised a total of $6,103.00
Madison Correctional Prison raised a total of $2,500.00
The combined total from these three prisons is $20,067.94. I will provide an update pertaining to future CCEF donations from the rest of the prisons in Ohio next month.
CCEF would like to thank the Ohio Director, Executive and institution staff and especially the incarcerated in Ohio DRC facilities for supporting the foundation and helping in stopping second generation crime through education.
